Our heavenly Father calls us His children. We are children of the most High! You fathers, if your children come to you and they ask for bread, will you give him a stone? If he asks for a fish, will you give him a serpent? If you sinful people know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give unto you. This is because he has a father/child relationship with you. Teach me to number my days.
Apply our Hearts to Wisdom
It’s time to enjoy those benefits and privileges as a child of God. It is the will of God. God has revealed through wisdom that you are to be enlightened. In Ecclesiastes 10:10 “If the axe is dull and he does not sharpen its edge, then he must exert more strength: but wisdom (to sharpen the axe) helps him to succeed (with less effort). The Bible says he must put forth much more strength but wisdom helps him to succeed. Wisdom is profitable to direct one’s way.
The Psalmist makes a prayer that everyone should become familiar with. “So teach (us) to number our days, that we apply (our) hearts unto wisdom” (Psalms 90:12). Teach us to number our days. “To number our days” is translated from the Hebrew word “manah” which means to appoint our days, to prepare or assign our days. Unfortunately, some meanings are lost in translation. To number our days would imply how you will live, where you should go, who you should marry. When it says to teach us to appoint our days, to assign our days, to prepare our days he’s making you an active participant in what’s going to happen in your future. There is a difference between teach me to know what’s going to happen to me next week so I adjust to that direction. When he says teach me how to prepare my days, it describes how to guarantee my future according to your truth.
Command your Days according to Scripture
Every child of God has been given the liberty through truth to design the years ahead of you. That is in essence the gift of Prophecy. The gift of Prophecy is to speak into your future, to speak into the days ahead of you. This is why he has told us if any man should speak, let him speak as the oracles of God. Speak as the word of God proclaims. You have the liberty to command your days according to what God has said in scripture. When you study scripture you find clues that demystify this conviction. “Therefore I say unto you, What things soever you desire, when you pray believe that you receive (them), and you shall have (them)” (Mark 11::24). When the Bible says whatsoever you shall ask in my name when you pray, he says to believe.
Look at that portion of scripture, “Believe” he says that you “receive” it and you shall have them. Don’t you see that the shall is in the future. There is a manifestation in your future. It says that what you do now can determine what your future is going to look like tomorrow. That it is appointed to some result because you have desired a thing and believed that you have received it guaranties how your future should look like tomorrow. The action of asking and receiving, speaking to something in the name of Jesus and believing that you have received it guarantees how your future should look like.
Let God be True and every Man a Liar
Do you ask for bread and God gives you a stone. What makes you think that you’re going to speak life into the days ahead of you and you’re going to get death? That is not possible. God is not a liar. Let God be true and every man a liar. God says, I have set before you life and death, and he wants you to choose life. He also says that life and death are in the power of the tongue. So boldly speak out your confession of faith.
All of these are elements of this conversation to show us that it is possible to appoint our days. To speak into the years ahead. To communicate into the milestones of your destiny to align and calibrate for things to agree with you in the next phase of your life. The Apostle Paul tells us whether the world, or life, or death, or things present or things to come, all are yours and you are Christ’s. So if all things to come are mine then I must position myself to receive the best of whatever is coming. That is what the Bible teaches
Every perfect gift comes from the Father of Lights
A popular 1956 song sung by Doris Day tells a young child that whatever will be will be, the future is not ours to see Que Sera Sera. That contradicts what the Bible says that all good and perfect gifts come from the Father of Lights in whom there is no changes or shifting shadows. The Bible says For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end” (Jeremiah 29:11). That means you must manage by wisdom your expected end. It is important to define your expectation because the Bible says if you are aligned with truth, he says your expectations shall not be cut short. If you expect to die a beggar, you are going to die a beggar. But if you expect to be a success, you are going to be a success.
The responsibility of the church, especially those whom God has given the opportunity to teach the gospel is to define expectation. If you can cast the right light to your spirit to define the power of expectation, you can be raised to a place to actually dream and believe God for something big and noteworthy for your life, then this gospel has been preached. When you study the power of the human spirit, we have to realize we can only limit our vision. If you are able to see certain things and construct your life around them there is no way you cannot be successful in this life. God tells us his thoughts towards us is for peace, and not for evil, he wants to give us an expected end.
My Soul Waiteth only upon God
Tomorrow is going to be a good day. When you wake up your first words should be thankyou for today my God. Wisdom is mine, favour is mine, progress is mine, advantage is mine. The earth is yielding forth its fruit and substance on by behalf. I step on this ground under the power and graces that only heaven can provide. I am going to bed a happier man than the way I woke up in Jesus’s name. “My soul, wait thou only upon God; for my expectation is from him” (Psalm 62:5). I expect good to come. That is what it means to appoint your days and he says it is wisdom. The wiser you become in God the wiser you know to assign your days. The future is no longer a mystery. It is for you to see. Speak into the future. Today I am living my past expectations.
Your future is bright. This is what it means to appoint your days, to number your days. The wisdom of God is applied to your heart. There is a certain wisdom that captures your heart when you understand how much power you have in the days ahead of you. “O satisfy us early with thy mercy that we may rejoice and be glad all our days” (Psalms 90:14). Surprise us with love at day brake then will I skip and dance all the day long. In other words bring things early, this was the prayer of the Psalmist.
